Orlaith Hamersley is a local artist living in Bunmahon, Co Waterford, Ireland. Orlaith returned to live in this part of the south east coast of Waterford so that her children could enjoy growing up in this beautiful rural seaside community. Orlaith says she is inspired to paint by the magnificent wildlife surrounding her. Our coast here is home to some amazing species of birds that are somewhat taken for granted until artists like Orlaith bring them to life for us by painting them. The Grey Heron

Like a tall grey sentinel, the heron stands in the shallows, poised to wade forward and strike with its pick axe bill at a fish, frog or water vole. Herons will range more than 12 miles for food sometimes raiding garden ponds for goldfish.
